The Baxter Ward Lions Club
Our Baxter Ward group from Honey Harbour, Port Severn & Waubaushene has joined The Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), which is the largest service club in the world with over 46,000 clubs in over 200 different countries. It is composed of 1.4 million caring men and women serving together so they can make a lasting impact and change more lives for the better.
Being a Lion is about leading by example, building relationships, and improving the world through kindness. The Lions Club is not new. LCIF is celebrating 100 years in Canada. We have had a local Lions Club in the past and we are extremely excited to re-start the group. Returning and new members are welcome!
One of the positive things to note about the Lions Club is that 100% of the money raised for community projects stays in our community. Donations go directly to the causes. LCIF administrative costs, which are very low, are funded by the members who pay a yearly fee of $125. But the most important donation is their volunteer time! Our Lions Club is respectful of this and we strive to keep our monthly meetings on track and brief.
The Baxter Ward Lions Club kicked off in February 2020 with Elections of the Executives and we have already organized many meaningful community service projects in our first year. If you have ideas on how to improve our community, we would love to hear them! To date, our new Lions have been working with our local food bank to see how we can partner to better service those who may need assistance. In addition, Lions are finding ways to assist families and seniors in the community.
If you are interested in helping in your community or have an idea about a community project, we would love to hear from you. We welcome visitors to any of our meetings if you would like to know more. If you or someone you know needs a helping hand, reach out to your local Lions Group. We will try to help!
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 6pm. Check our Facebook page (Baxter Ward Lions Club) for current information. We hope to see you at a meeting and we look forward to your support with our community projects.
WE CARE, WE SERVE, WE ACCOMPLISH!
