Baxter Ward Lions Charter Event Postponed and Other Cancellations

Postponed

Dear Fellow Lions,

The executive of Baxter Ward Lions Club has, in the best interest of our members, guests and families chosen to postpone our April 18th Charter Dinner in keeping our Lions family in mind and considering the guidelines from the Government health agencies. We will look at a reschedule date when the authorities have deemed that is safe to do so.

Baxter Ward Lions Club meetings and Committee meetings have also been suspended until notification that Social Distancing is no longer required in the effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 virus. Please feel free to contact us via web-mail, Gmail or on Facebook and Instagram. The board is going to test electronic conferencing for meetings.

We thank you for your commitment to the Lions Club and we know you are ready to roll up our sleeves and serve. I urge you to reach out to your neighbours and community to see if you can help those that need it in this difficult time. We are working with the Township of Georgian Bay to find out where help is needed in the community, and they are aware that the Lions of our community are ready to assist.

Please see the notice below from District Governor Jamie Jones & the cancellation of Learning Weekend.

Please know we are ready to help each other as well during this unprecedented time.

Be safe and stay well,
Lion Beth Heintzman
President, Baxter Ward Lions Club

From Jamie Jones:
Mon., March 16th, 2020

Lions All,

We continue to monitor the fluid situation regarding the recent COVID-19 virus. As the situation evolves, our response evolves. The following is an up-date regarding the position of the District and the measures we have and are taking with respect to the health and welfare of all;

Club Meetings & Service Projects
Due to the rapidly evolving Public Health advice concerning the novel coronavirus (now named COVID-19), we strongly recommend that all Lions Events within District A12 be cancelled for the balance of the month of March and for the first week of April. This is consistent with the two-week self-isolation period and includes all Club Meetings and Club Service Projects.

District Zone Advisory Meetings
All District Zone Advisory Meetings will be cancelled for the balance of the month of March and the first week of April.

District Convention and Lions Learning Weekend
The Cabinet Officers held an emergency, on-line Cabinet Meeting this evening. It has been decided that the District A12 Convention and Lions Learning Weekend scheduled for April 3-5, 2020 be cancelled. The Convention Committee will endeavor to refund payments in a timely manner. Individual registrants are responsible for cancelling their Hotel reservation after Tues., Mar. 17th.

We are tentatively planning to administer our Lions Learning in an on-line format. Our keynote speaker, Lion Daniel Elkins, will be scheduled for a Webinar on Saturday, April 4th at 9:00 AM. Our hope is to include many of the topics listed at the LLW as on-line Webinars over the next few months.

Please continue to remember your vulnerable Club members and check in on them from time to time by phone or email.

Continue to follow the advice of health authorities and be safe.

Kind Regards & yours in Lionism,
Lion Jamie Jones,
District Gov., A12 Lions
